This the Season for New Traditions
Stay at home orders and the Easter holiday bring about many emotions. At first I was disappointed that I couldn't do the normal Saturday celebration at my parents and Sunday with the inlaws. We have been doing it for about 10 years and it seems to make everyone happy regardless of the stress holidays bring about.
For awhile I reflected on whether or not we should just carry on with the holiday or follow the rules and stay home. It's tempting to think that we have been self quarantining for about a month and so have the families but then it hit me. What's a better time to start something new then quarantine. No matter what anyone else decided we had an out. Stay home, meaning we could finally do our own thing on Easter. We modified Christmas last year but still couldn't create our own tradition. Easter was finally ours. We planned on starting by waking up early to hide hard-boiled eggs and our oldest's basket around the house. We would then get on the church's website to join mass. Finally head to a local trail and walk around until we were ready for lunch/dinner and possibly have a fire. There would be no running from church to inlaws to eat a super early dinner and sit around 7. A quiet day for just us.
What are some of the new traditions you have started? Did you do your normal Easter routine with the family?
Nonetheless, I hope you all have a joyous Easter and remember whether you are making new traditions or just making the exception this year we are all in this together. It will end, we will move on and we will be better off from this turbulent time.
Stay Home and Stay Safe
